Satin Brass Window Furniture

Our satin brass window furniture combines traditional casement-window designs with a soft, muted brass finish. Less reflective than polished brass, it works well with timber and painted windows in period properties, renovations and contemporary interiors.

The collection includes solid-brass casement stays and fasteners, locking wedge fasteners for standard and weather-stripped windows, and specialist stays and catches for compatible fanlight windows. Several sizes and kit options are available, depending on the product.

These fittings have a protective satin brass lacquer and should be cleaned gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Avoid metal polish, aerosol sprays and abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the surface coating.

Satin Brass Casement Window Stays

Casement stays are fitted to outward-opening timber windows and allow the window to be held at a chosen position. Our satin brass range includes traditional ball-end and spoon-end designs in 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch lengths.

Before selecting a stay, check:

  • The dimensions and weight of the window
  • The available fixing space on the casement
  • How far the window needs to open
  • The position of the fastener and surrounding frame
  • The stay and pin fixing centres
  • Whether the listing includes the stay only or a matching kit

The longest stay is not automatically suitable for every window. It must fit comfortably without obstructing the handle, frame or surrounding joinery.

Satin Brass Window Fasteners

A casement fastener holds the opening section of a timber window against its frame. Choose from coordinating ball-end, spoon-end and wedge-pattern fasteners.

When replacing existing hardware, compare the backplate dimensions, fixing centres, keeper arrangement and handing. Selected fasteners are reversible, but compatibility varies between products and window constructions.

Fasteners for Weather-Stripped Windows

Weather stripping can create an offset or require additional compression between the opening window and its frame. A standard flush-fitting fastener may therefore be unsuitable.

The collection includes a satin brass locking wedge fastener designed for compatible timber windows fitted with weather stripping. Its wedge action helps pull the window against the seal when closed.

The supplied Allen key operates a locking grub screw that restricts normal handle movement. This feature is not described as a certified security lock. If tested window security is required, choose additional hardware specifically approved for that purpose.

Specialist Satin Brass Window Stays

For fanlight and alternative casement-window arrangements, the collection includes:

  • Roller arm stays for compatible bottom-hung fanlight windows
  • Quadrant stays for controlling the opening of compatible fanlight or casement windows
  • Sliding casement stays with an adjustable arm and screw-down knob

These products are not interchangeable. Confirm whether the window is top-hung, bottom-hung or side-hung and whether it opens inward or outward before choosing a stay.

Satin Brass Fanlight Catches

A coordinating satin brass fanlight catch is available for compatible bottom-hung, inward-opening windows. Its ring pull can be operated with a suitable pole hook when the window is above normal reach.

The catch is supplied with alternative keepers for flush and recessed fitting arrangements. Check the product dimensions and window profile to determine which keeper is required.

Satin Brass Finish and Care

Satin brass has a brushed, low-reflection appearance protected by a lacquered finish. It is designed to retain a more consistent appearance than unlacquered brass and will not develop the same natural living patina.

To care for the finish:

  • Remove dirt with a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth
  • Dry the hardware after cleaning
  • Avoid metal polish and polishing sprays
  • Do not use abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners
  • Check alignment and fixings rather than forcing a stiff mechanism

Normal handling and wear may still cause gradual changes around frequently operated parts.
