Choose a Stay on Its Own or with a Fastener

The stay listings offer nominal 8, 10 and 12 inch sizes, with options for a stay on its own or a stay-and-fastener set. Check the selected option before ordering so you do not buy an additional fastener unnecessarily.

For example, Black Monkey Tail Window Stays include stay-only and stay-and-fastener choices. Pewter Shepherd’s Crook Window Stays also let you choose a set with a left- or right-handed fastener. Refer to each product for the parts supplied and full dimensions.

Check the Fastener Handing

Monkey Tail and Pear Drop fasteners in this collection are reversible for left- or right-opening windows. Shepherd’s Crook fasteners are supplied in separate left- and right-hand versions, so select the appropriate handing when buying a fastener or a stay-and-fastener set.

The Shepherd’s Crook fasteners include an Allen-key locking feature. This is an additional closing feature, not a high-security lock.

Black and Pewter Finishes

The black finishes differ between designs: Monkey Tail and Pear Drop stays and fasteners use a black epoxy coating, while the black Shepherd’s Crook fittings use beeswax. The pewter versions are also cast iron, with a pewter finish.

Choose the same design and stated finish when coordinating fittings, and follow the individual product’s care guidance. The stays are listed for internal use only; a traditional appearance or matching colour does not establish suitability for exposed locations. Matching Stays, Fasteners and Stay Locks

The black and pewter stay locks replace a standard stay lug on a compatible stay and are secured with the supplied Allen key. Compare the dimensions and fitting arrangement before ordering; matching finish alone does not confirm compatibility.

Windows with an Espagnolette Mechanism
