Beehive Door Knobs

Beehive door knobs are a traditional ringed door knob style suited to Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian interiors. Their distinctive concentric rings give a practical grip while adding period detail to painted, timber and panelled internal doors.

Our collection includes wooden beehive door knobs, solid brass beehive door knobs, antique brass beehive door knobs, aged brass beehive door knobs and black beehive door knobs.

Choose from mortice versions for standard internal latches and rim lock versions for traditional surface-mounted rim locks. Wooden beehive door knobs work well in period homes, cottages and Victorian-style interiors, especially in rosewood and ebonised finishes.

For co-ordinating hardware, browse our beehive cupboard knobs, keyhole escutcheons and door hinges. For more guidance, read our What Are Beehive Door Knobs? guide or our wider Door Knobs Explained guide.

Choosing beehive door knobs

Before ordering, check whether your door has a mortice latch or a rim lock. A mortice latch is fitted into the edge of the door, while a rim lock sits visibly on the face of the door. The same beehive style may be available in both versions, but the fitting method is different.

Beehive door knobs are commonly used in period homes because the design sits comfortably across Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian interiors. Wooden versions give a warmer traditional look, while brass, antique brass and aged brass finishes can help coordinate with other door hardware.

If you are fitting unsprung wooden beehive door knobs, make sure the latch or lock behind them has enough spring strength to return the knob properly after use.

Matching beehive door knobs with other hardware

Beehive door knobs can be paired with matching or complementary keyhole escutcheons, cupboard knobs, hinges, rim locks and mortice latches. Antique brass and aged brass finishes are useful where you want a coordinated traditional finish, while ebonised wooden knobs work especially well with black rim locks and darker interiors.

If you are replacing existing door furniture, check the rose diameter, old fixing marks, latch backset and lock type before ordering. This helps make sure the new beehive door knobs fit correctly and sit comfortably on the door.
