Espag & Espagnolette Window Handles

Shop Espag and Espagnolette window handles for compatible timber casement windows. Espag is the commonly used shortened form of Espagnolette, and both terms refer to handles designed to operate a compatible Espagnolette mechanism fitted within the window.

Choose from styles including Monkeytail, Peardrop, Shepherd's Crook, Reeded and other designs in a range of finishes. Before ordering, check the handing, spindle dimensions, fixing centres and compatibility requirements shown on the individual product page.

How Espag Window Handles Work

An espag handle is used to operate a compatible espagnolette mechanism fitted within the window. Turning the handle operates the mechanism so that the window can be opened or closed.

The handle and mechanism need to be compatible. If you are replacing an existing handle, do not choose by appearance alone. Compare the measurements and configuration of the existing fitting with the information supplied for the new handle.

Choosing the Right Espagnolette Handle

Before ordering an espagnolette window handle, check:

  • whether the handle is left-handed, right-handed or suitable for your window arrangement;
  • the spindle size and length;
  • the fixing centres;
  • the available fixing space;
  • compatibility with the existing espagnolette mechanism; and
  • the finish and design of your other window furniture.

Measurements and compatibility can vary between products, so use the individual product information as the final reference before ordering.

Traditional Espag Handle Designs

Traditional espag handles allow modern window mechanisms to be used with handle designs that suit timber casement windows and period-style interiors. Our range includes Monkeytail, Peardrop, Shepherd's Crook, Reeded, Newbury, Avon and other designs.

Some handles are available in several sizes, configurations or handed versions. Always check the options shown on the product page rather than assuming that different designs use the same dimensions.

Complete Your Casement Window Hardware

Espag handles form one part of the wider casement window hardware arrangement. Depending on the window design, you may also require stays or other fittings.
