Single Hooks

Explore our collection of single hooks for hanging coats, robes, towels, clothes, keys and everyday accessories. Compact and versatile, these wall- and door-mounted hooks are useful in hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, cloakrooms, utility rooms, cupboards and wardrobes.

Choose from traditional antique-iron and hand-forged designs or contemporary hooks in brass, bronze, black, chrome and nickel finishes. Decorative styles include Gothic, fleur-de-lis, leaf, hammered and Celtic hooks, alongside simple robe and towel hooks for more understated interiors.

Fit a single hook to the back of a door or arrange several hooks on a suitable timber board to create a personalised coat rack. Dimensions, supplied fixings and suitability for bathrooms or exterior locations vary, so please check the individual product information before ordering.

Single Coat, Robe and Towel Hooks

Single hooks offer flexible storage without taking up much wall or door space. Depending on the size and design, they can be used for:

  • Coats, jackets, hats and scarves in hallways
  • Robes and clothing on bedroom doors
  • Towels and dressing gowns in suitable bathrooms
  • Keys, aprons and lightweight accessories
  • Storage inside cupboards and wardrobes
  • Creating a row of hooks on a timber backboard

Check the hook’s projection and dimensions against the item you intend to hang. Smaller robe hooks are well suited to clothes and towels, while a deeper coat hook may provide better support for heavier jackets or multiple garments.

Antique-Iron and Cast-Iron Hooks

Traditional cast-iron hooks provide an authentic finish for cottages, period properties and rustic interiors. Antique-iron designs are tumbled and lightly oiled to create natural surface variation rather than a perfectly uniform appearance.

Untreated or lightly protected cast iron is a ferrous material and can rust in damp conditions. For example, the Single Robe Hook in Antique Iron is not recommended for bathrooms, unheated rooms or other areas with high moisture levels.

Black Single Hooks

Black hooks provide a strong contrast against painted walls and natural timber. They work well with industrial interiors, traditional black ironmongery and contemporary monochrome schemes.

The Single Robe Hook in Black is made from solid cast iron with a hardwearing black epoxy coating. It can be used in high-moisture rooms but is not recommended for exterior use.

Brass and Bronze Robe Hooks

Solid-brass and bronze hooks provide a more refined finish and are available in colours including aged brass, antique brass, satin brass, matt bronze, polished bronze, polished chrome and satin nickel.

Our Curved Single Robe Hook is suitable for bedrooms, bathrooms, cupboards and wardrobes. The compact design coordinates with matching brass door handles and accessories.

For a more textured surface, choose the Hammered Single Robe Hook, available in a selection of brass, bronze, chrome and nickel finishes.

Hand-Forged Decorative Hooks

Hand-forged Gothic, fleur-de-lis and leaf designs add character to a coat rack, door or feature wall. Small differences in shape, texture and finish are expected characteristics of traditionally made ironmongery.

Black beeswax and natural iron finishes require appropriate care and are generally best suited to dry interiors unless the individual listing confirms otherwise.

Can Single Hooks Be Used in Bathrooms?

Selected brass, coated and bathroom-specific hooks are suitable for hanging robes and towels in bathrooms. However, bathroom suitability should not be assumed across the whole collection.

Avoid using antique iron, black beeswax or another moisture-sensitive finish in a damp or poorly ventilated room unless the product specification explicitly allows it. Even bathroom-suitable hooks should be wiped dry if regularly exposed to water.

Exterior Single Hooks

Most single hooks in this collection are designed primarily for indoor use. If you require a hook for an external wall, garden building or exposed entrance, choose a product with a suitable protective finish.

The Coat Hook with Armor-Coat® has a UV- and corrosion-resistant finish developed for exterior conditions. Coastal suitability should still be confirmed from the individual product information before installation.

Creating a Wall-Mounted Hook Rack

Individual hooks can be arranged on a timber backboard to create a hook rack suited to your available space. Before fitting:

  • Plan the spacing around the coats, towels or accessories being stored
  • Allow enough clearance for the hook’s projection
  • Use a board thick enough to accept the supplied screws securely
  • Choose suitable wall fixings for the board, wall type and expected load
  • Check the hooks are level and evenly spaced before drilling

The safe load depends on the hook, fixings, backboard and supporting wall. Do not assume a particular weight capacity unless it is stated on the product listing.

Fitting Hooks to the Back of a Door

Before fitting a hook to a door, check its thickness and construction. The screws must be short enough to avoid passing through the opposite face while still providing a secure fixing.

Also check that the hook and anything hanging from it will clear the wall, door frame and nearby furniture when the door opens. Avoid drilling close to glazed panels or into a hollow section that cannot support the fixing.

Choosing a Single Hook

Before ordering, check:

  • The hook’s height, width and projection
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it is suitable for a bathroom or damp room
  • Whether internal or external use is permitted
  • The type and dimensions of the supplied screws
  • Whether the mounting surface can support the intended load

Caring for Single Hooks

Clean lacquered and plated hooks with a soft cloth. Avoid metal polishes, abrasive pads and aerosol cleaners unless the individual care instructions permit them, as these products can damage protective finishes.

Antique-iron hooks may need occasional light oiling, while black beeswax products can be maintained with a suitable wax coating. Living brass and bronze finishes may gradually change colour and develop a natural patina.
