Sliding & Pocket Door Handles & Furniture

Shop Heritage Brass sliding door handles and pocket door handles from M-Marcus. The collection includes flush pulls, recessed door handles, edge pulls and sliding door lock sets for internal sliding and pocket-door installations.

Low-profile and recessed fittings help a pocket door retract into its wall cavity without a conventional handle obstructing the opening. Choose from traditional and contemporary designs in coordinating Heritage Brass finishes, checking the door thickness, recess depth and sliding system before ordering.

Heritage Brass Sliding Door Handles

Heritage Brass sliding door handles provide a practical grip for doors that move horizontally along a track. Unlike conventional hinged-door handles, sliding-door fittings must work within the clearance available around the door, frame and adjoining wall.

The correct handle depends on whether the door slides across the face of a wall or retracts into a concealed pocket. A surface-mounted pull may suit some exposed sliding doors, while a pocket door normally requires a flush or recessed design.

Before ordering, check:

  • The type of sliding-door system
  • The door material and thickness
  • The handle’s overall dimensions and projection
  • The required recess or cut-out dimensions
  • Clearance between the door, track, frame and wall
  • Whether access is needed from one or both sides

Pocket Door Handles

Pocket door handles are designed for doors that slide into a cavity within the wall. Because the door must pass between the pocket linings, projecting handles can prevent it from retracting fully.

Flush pocket door handles sit within or close to the surface of the door. Selected designs may be fitted as a pair, with one pull on each side, while an edge pull can provide a way to retrieve a door that has moved completely into its pocket.

Confirm the maximum permitted projection for your pocket-door system. The handle recess must also leave enough material around the fitting to avoid weakening or damaging the door.

Flush Pull Handles

Flush pull handles are fitted into a prepared recess so the grip remains level with, or close to, the face of the door. They are particularly useful where space is restricted or a projecting handle would interfere with the sliding movement.

The collection includes rectangular, round, reeded and half-moon flush pull designs. Different profiles offer different grip areas, so consider how the door will be used as well as its visual style.

Check the fitting’s face dimensions, recess depth and cut-out shape. Use the manufacturer’s measurements or fitting template rather than estimating the opening from the visible faceplate.

Recessed Door Handles

Recessed door handles can be used on suitable sliding doors, pocket doors and other space-sensitive installations. Although the terms “flush pull” and “recessed handle” are often used interchangeably, individual products can differ in depth, grip style and fixing method.

Confirm whether the fitting is face-fixed, bonded, screwed through the recess or secured by another method. Check both faces of the door before cutting to avoid meeting another fitting, lock case, glazing or internal component.

Pocket Door Edge Pulls

A pocket door edge pull is fitted into the closing edge of the door. When the door has retracted into the wall cavity, the small pull can be released to provide a grip for drawing it back out.

The edge pull must fit within the available door thickness without interfering with a lock or other hardware. Check its faceplate, recess and fixing dimensions carefully, particularly when it will be combined with a privacy-locking set.

Sliding and Pocket Door Locks

Selected sliding door locks provide a privacy function for suitable bathrooms, en suites, cloakrooms and bedrooms. These sets may combine a lock case with coordinating flush pulls and a round or square privacy turn.

A pocket door lock uses a mechanism suited to the way a sliding door meets its frame. It should not be replaced with a standard hinged-door latch unless the sliding system and manufacturer specifically permit it.

Before ordering a pocket door lock set, confirm:

  • The lock case and faceplate dimensions
  • The required backset
  • The minimum suitable door thickness
  • The handle and privacy-turn arrangement
  • The position and type of receiving keep
  • Compatibility with the pocket-door frame and track

Measuring for Sliding Door Furniture

Measure the door and sliding system before purchasing the handles. Pay particular attention to the thickness of the door and the clearance available on both faces as it moves past the frame or into the wall pocket.

If you are replacing existing sliding door furniture, measure the cut-outs rather than relying only on the dimensions of the visible faceplates. The new fitting must accommodate or completely cover the existing recess.

Installing Pocket Door Handles

Recessed fittings require accurate cutting. Mark every component and confirm its position before removing material from the door. A cut-out that is too large, too deep or incorrectly positioned can be difficult to repair.

Take extra care where flush pulls, edge pulls and locks are fitted to the same door. Their recesses must not overlap or weaken the surrounding material. Follow the hardware and pocket-door system manufacturers’ instructions or use a suitably experienced installer.
