Aged Brass Window Furniture

Our aged brass window furniture combines traditional casement-window designs with a warm, softly darkened brass finish. It is particularly well suited to cottages, period properties and renovation projects where polished brass would appear too bright.

The collection includes solid-brass casement stays and fasteners, locking wedge fasteners for standard and weather-stripped windows, specialist fanlight stays, a fanlight catch and a casement stay locking pin. Different sizes and fitting arrangements are available for compatible timber windows.

These products have a protective aged brass lacquer designed to provide a more consistent appearance than an unlacquered living finish. Clean the hardware gently with a soft cloth and avoid metal polish or abrasive cleaning products, as these can damage the lacquer.

Aged Brass Casement Window Stays

Casement stays are used to hold outward-opening timber windows in an open or closed position. Our aged brass range includes traditional ball-end and spoon-end designs in 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch lengths.

Before selecting a stay, consider:

  • The size and weight of the opening window
  • The available space on the timber casement
  • How far the window needs to open
  • The position of the handle and surrounding frame
  • The stay and pin fixing centres

A longer stay can provide a wider opening, but it must fit comfortably without obstructing other window furniture. Check the product drawing before drilling new fixing holes.

Aged Brass Window Fasteners

Casement fasteners hold an opening window against its frame. Ball-end and spoon-end fasteners are available to coordinate with the matching stays, while wedge-pattern fasteners provide an alternative traditional design.

When replacing existing hardware, check the handing, backplate dimensions, keeper position and fixing centres. Selected fasteners are reversible, but compatibility should always be confirmed on the individual product listing.

Fasteners for Weather-Stripped Windows

Weather stripping can create an offset between the opening casement and the window frame. This means a fastener intended for a standard flush arrangement may not fit correctly.

The collection includes an aged brass locking wedge fastener designed for compatible timber windows fitted with weather stripping. Its wedge action helps pull the window against the seal when closed.

The locking mechanism uses an Allen key and grub screw to restrict normal operation. It is not described as a certified security lock. If tested window security is required, select additional hardware specifically approved for that purpose.

Specialist Aged Brass Window Stays

For fanlight and other specialist window arrangements, the collection includes:

  • Roller arm stays for compatible bottom-hung fanlight windows
  • Quadrant stays for controlling the opening of compatible fanlight or casement windows
  • Sliding casement stays with an adjustable arm and screw-down knob

These stay types are not interchangeable. Check whether the window is top-hung, bottom-hung or side-hung and whether it opens inward or outward before selecting a product.

Aged Brass Fanlight Catches

A coordinating aged brass fanlight catch is available for compatible bottom-hung, inward-opening windows. Its ring pull can be operated with a suitable pole hook when the window is positioned out of reach.

The catch is supplied with alternative keepers for flush and recessed fitting arrangements. Consult the dimensions to determine which keeper suits your window frame.

Casement Stay Locking Pins

An aged brass casement stay locking pin can replace a conventional pin on a compatible stay. It helps prevent the stay from being lifted casually during normal use.

This fitting should not automatically be treated as a complete or certified security system. Check its compatibility with the stay and window before ordering.

Aged Brass Finish and Care

Aged Brass is the product finish name used throughout this collection. It provides an antique-style appearance but has a protective lacquer, helping it retain a more controlled appearance than unlacquered brass.

To protect the finish:

  • Clean with a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth
  • Remove moisture after cleaning
  • Avoid metal polish and polishing sprays
  • Do not use abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners
  • Check moving components rather than forcing a stiff fitting

Normal handling and wear can still cause the appearance to change gradually, particularly around frequently operated parts.
