Stainless Steel Door Furniture

Explore our collection of marine-grade stainless steel door furniture, including lever handles, centre door knobs, letter plates and door knockers. Manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel, these fittings combine a clean architectural appearance with excellent resistance to moisture and coastal conditions.

Choose from Satin Marine Stainless Steel, which has a subtle brushed appearance, or Polished Marine Stainless Steel for a brighter, reflective finish. Coordinating products make it easier to create a consistent entrance across your handles, door knocker, centre knob and letter plate.

Grade 316 stainless steel is particularly well suited to coastal properties and other exposed locations. Regular cleaning is still recommended to remove salt and environmental deposits and maintain the appearance of the finish.

What Is Grade 316 Marine-Grade Stainless Steel?

Grade 316 is a high-performance stainless steel alloy containing chromium, nickel and molybdenum. The addition of molybdenum improves resistance to corrosion caused by moisture and chlorides, including salt carried in coastal air.

This makes Grade 316 a practical material for front door furniture in seaside locations, exposed properties and other environments where standard plated finishes may require more frequent maintenance.

Marine-Grade Stainless Steel Door Handles

Our stainless steel door handles offer a clean, contemporary appearance and are available in coordinating satin and polished marine finishes. Selected lever handles are suitable for internal or external doors and are supplied as pairs with compatible fixings.

Before ordering, check whether the handles are designed for a latch, bathroom lock, sash lock or multipoint locking system. The correct handle type will depend on the lock preparation and function of your door.

Stainless Steel Centre Door Knobs

A stainless steel centre door knob creates a strong focal point on a front door and can be coordinated with matching handles, knockers and letter plates.

Centre door knobs are generally fixed independently to the face of the door. They do not normally turn or operate a latch or lock, although they can provide a handhold for pulling the door closed.

Check the knob diameter, projection, rose size, bolt length and required fixing position before drilling the door.

Stainless Steel Door Knockers

Marine-grade stainless steel door knockers combine a decorative entrance feature with improved resistance to exposed conditions. Selected designs include matching strike plates and bolt-through fixings.

When fitting a knocker, check the overall dimensions, fixing centres and internal clearance. On composite, aluminium or glazed doors, confirm that the door construction can accept the supplied fixings before drilling.

Stainless Steel Letter Plates

A coordinated stainless steel letter plate can help create a consistent finish across the front door. Before ordering, measure the existing aperture as well as the overall external dimensions and fixing centres of the new letter plate.

If replacing existing hardware, ensure the new product will cover the original opening and fixing holes. The door thickness and internal fittings, such as a letter plate tidy, should also be considered.

Satin or Polished Marine Stainless Steel?

The two finishes share the same underlying marine-grade material but have different appearances:

  • Satin Marine Stainless Steel has a softly brushed surface for an understated, architectural look.
  • Polished Marine Stainless Steel has a brighter and more reflective appearance that creates a prominent entrance detail.

For the most consistent result, select the same finish across your door handles, centre knob, door knocker, letter plate and other entrance furniture.

What to Check Before Ordering

Exterior door furniture is not universally interchangeable. Before purchasing, check:

  • The material and construction of the door
  • The overall product dimensions and projection
  • The distance between fixing centres
  • The door thickness and required bolt length
  • The size and position of any existing holes
  • The type of latch or lock used with lever handles
  • Internal clearance around glazing and locking components
  • Whether the product is approved for the intended external location

Use the technical drawing on the individual product listing and check the physical fitting against the door before drilling new holes.

Door Furniture and Security

Items such as centre door knobs, letter plates and door knockers are entrance furniture rather than security devices. Lever handles operate the fitted latch or lock but do not determine the security rating of the door by themselves.

An external door should have a correctly specified lock suitable for its construction, location and any applicable insurance requirements.

Caring for Marine-Grade Stainless Steel

Although Grade 316 offers excellent corrosion resistance, no external finish is completely maintenance-free. Salt, dirt and atmospheric deposits should be removed regularly, especially from hardware fitted near the coast.

Clean the surface with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, rinse away any residue and dry it with a clean cloth. Avoid wire wool, abrasive pads, bleach and cleaners containing chlorides.

When cleaning a satin finish, wipe in the direction of the visible grain to help preserve its brushed appearance.
