Stainless Steel Handles

Explore our collection of marine-grade stainless steel door handles for internal doors, external entrances and coastal properties. Manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel, these lever handles provide excellent corrosion resistance with a clean, contemporary appearance.

The range includes lever handles on rose, lever handles on backplate and selected multipoint door handles. Choose from Satin Marine Stainless Steel for a subtle brushed look or Polished Marine Stainless Steel for a brighter, reflective finish.

Grade 316 stainless steel is particularly suitable for locations exposed to salt air, moisture and changing weather. Regular cleaning is still recommended to remove deposits and preserve the appearance and operation of the handles.

Why Choose Grade 316 Stainless Steel Door Handles?

Grade 316 is a high-performance stainless steel alloy containing chromium, nickel and molybdenum. The addition of molybdenum improves resistance to corrosion caused by moisture and chlorides, including the salt carried in coastal air.

This makes Grade 316 door handles a practical choice for seaside homes, exposed entrance doors, bathrooms, utility rooms and other environments where moisture is frequently present.

Marine-grade stainless steel is corrosion-resistant rather than completely maintenance-free. Salt and environmental deposits should still be removed regularly, particularly from exterior handles near the coast.

Lever Handles on Rose

Stainless steel lever handles on rose have a compact concealed backplate that creates a clean, streamlined appearance. The separate rose design allows the handles to be combined with matching keyhole escutcheons or bathroom thumbturns where required.

Selected designs are available with different rose patterns, including plain, Art Deco, beehive and square options. Check the individual listing to confirm the available combinations.

Handles on rose must be paired with a compatible tubular latch, bathroom lock, sash lock or Euro-profile lock according to the function of the door.

Lever Handles on Backplate

Stainless steel door handles on backplate combine the lever and functional cut-out on one longer plate. Depending on the selected version, the backplate may be intended for:

  • Latch operation with no keyhole
  • Lock operation with a traditional keyhole
  • Euro-profile locking with a Euro-cylinder aperture

Choose the backplate type that matches the lock already fitted or the new lock specified for the door. A latch backplate cannot provide access to a key-operated lock.

Marine-Grade Multipoint Door Handles

Stainless steel multipoint door handles are designed for doors fitted with compatible multipoint locking mechanisms. These are commonly found on modern entrance, patio and composite doors.

Multipoint handles are not universally interchangeable. Before ordering, check the spindle-to-cylinder measurement, fixing centres, backplate dimensions, spindle size and the position of the fixing screws.

The handle must match the existing multipoint lock. If the measurements differ, the new handle may not operate or cover the existing preparation correctly.

Internal and External Door Handles

Selected handles in this collection are suitable for internal and external doors. Exterior suitability should always be confirmed on the individual product listing because the handle design, fixings and associated lock components must all be appropriate for the intended location.

For bathrooms, pair the handles with a compatible bathroom lock and privacy thumbturn. For entrance doors, use a suitably specified lock that meets the security requirements of the door and property.

Satin or Polished Marine Stainless Steel?

The two finishes use the same underlying marine-grade material but create different visual effects:

  • Satin Marine Stainless Steel has a softly brushed surface for an understated, architectural appearance.
  • Polished Marine Stainless Steel has a brighter, reflective finish that creates a more prominent feature.

Both options can be coordinated with matching stainless steel door, cabinet and window furniture.

What to Measure Before Ordering

Before choosing replacement door handles, check:

  • The overall handle and backplate dimensions
  • The projection of the lever from the door
  • The fixing centres
  • The spindle size and required spindle length
  • The thickness and construction of the door
  • The type of latch or lock already installed
  • The position of any keyhole or cylinder aperture
  • The spindle-to-cylinder measurement on multipoint handles
  • Whether the new hardware will cover existing holes

Use the technical drawing on the individual product page before ordering or drilling new fixing holes.

Door Compatibility and Fixings

Selected handles are supplied as pairs with matching bolt-through fixings. Package contents vary, so check whether the latch, lock, cylinder, bathroom turn or escutcheons need to be ordered separately.

When fitting to composite, aluminium or uPVC doors, confirm that the product and fixing method are compatible with the door construction. Internal reinforcement, glazing and locking components can restrict where holes may be drilled.

Door Handles and Security

A door handle operates the fitted latch or lock but does not determine the door’s security rating by itself. External security depends on the complete door assembly, including the lock, cylinder, keeps, hinges and construction of the door and frame.

For an external entrance, select a correctly specified lock and cylinder that meet any applicable building, security and insurance requirements.

Caring for Stainless Steel Door Handles

Clean marine-grade stainless steel with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Rinse away cleaning residue and dry the surface to reduce water marks.

Avoid wire wool, abrasive pads, bleach and cleaners containing chlorides. These can scratch the surface, contaminate the stainless steel or affect its appearance.

In coastal locations, clean exterior handles more frequently to remove salt deposits. When wiping a satin finish, follow the direction of the visible grain.
