Matt Bronze Window Furniture

Our matt bronze window furniture combines traditional casement-window designs with a dark, low-sheen finish. The softer tone offers an alternative to black hardware and works well with timber, painted windows and both period and contemporary interiors.

The collection includes solid-brass casement stays and fasteners, locking wedge fasteners for standard and weather-stripped windows, specialist fanlight stays, a fanlight catch and a casement stay locking pin. Different sizes and fitting arrangements are available for compatible timber windows.

These fittings are manufactured from solid brass with a protective matt bronze lacquer. They are not made from solid bronze and will not develop the same living patina as unlacquered bronze hardware.

Matt Bronze Casement Window Stays

Casement stays are fitted to outward-opening timber windows and allow the window to be held in an open or closed position. Choose from traditional ball-end and spoon-end designs in 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch lengths.

Before selecting a stay, check:

  • The dimensions and weight of the window
  • The available space on the opening casement
  • The required opening distance
  • The position of the window fastener and surrounding frame
  • The stay and pin fixing centres

A longer stay may permit a wider opening, but it must fit comfortably without obstructing the handle or surrounding joinery. Consult the individual technical drawing before installation.

Matt Bronze Window Fasteners

Casement fasteners hold the opening section of a timber window against its frame. The collection includes ball-end and spoon-end fasteners that coordinate with the matching window stays.

Check the handing, keeper arrangement, backplate dimensions and existing fixing centres before ordering. Selected fasteners are reversible, but compatibility varies between products and window constructions.

Fasteners for Weather-Stripped Windows

Weather stripping can create an offset or require additional compression between the casement and frame. A fastener designed for a standard flush window may therefore be unsuitable.

The collection includes a matt bronze locking wedge fastener for compatible weather-stripped timber windows. Its wedge action helps pull the window against the seal when closed.

The locking function is operated with an Allen key and grub screw. It restricts normal handle operation but is not described as a certified security lock. If tested security is required, use hardware specifically approved for that purpose.

Specialist Matt Bronze Window Stays

For fanlight windows and other specialist applications, the collection includes:

  • Roller arm stays for compatible bottom-hung fanlight windows
  • Quadrant stays for controlling the opening of compatible fanlight or casement windows
  • Sliding casement stays with an adjustable arm and screw-down knob

Confirm whether the window is top-hung, bottom-hung or side-hung and whether it opens inward or outward. These specialist stay types are not universally interchangeable.

Matt Bronze Fanlight Catches

A coordinating matt bronze fanlight catch is available for compatible bottom-hung, inward-opening windows. Its ring pull can be operated with a suitable pole hook when the window is difficult to reach.

The catch is supplied with alternative keepers for flush and recessed fitting arrangements. Check the product dimensions and window profile to determine the appropriate keeper.

Casement Stay Locking Pins

A matt bronze casement stay locking pin can replace a standard pin on a compatible traditional stay. It helps prevent the stay from being lifted casually during everyday use.

This accessory should not automatically be treated as a complete or certified window-security system. Confirm compatibility with the existing stay before ordering.

Caring for Matt Bronze Window Furniture

Clean the lacquered matt bronze surface with a soft, dry or lightly dampened cloth. Avoid metal cleaners, aerosol sprays, abrasive pads and polishing compounds because these may mark or remove the protective finish.

Springs and mechanical joints may benefit from occasional lubrication. Apply only a very small amount of suitable light oil directly to the moving component and remove any excess immediately. Avoid spreading oil across the decorative lacquered surface.

If a fitting becomes difficult to operate, check the window alignment and fixing screws before forcing the mechanism.
