These handles are made from cast iron rather than solid pewter. The pewter-effect finish provides the lighter metallic appearance while the cast iron forms the underlying handle.

This distinction is useful when comparing products or coordinating other door furniture. A product described as pewter should not automatically be assumed to be manufactured from solid pewter.
