SUFFOLK DAY 2021

Rejoice, Revisit, Remember

Suffolk Day is an annual event, traditionally held on June 21st, the longest day of the year. First launched in 2017, the day was created to honour everything the county has to offer, for residents and vistors alike - the beautiful coastline, the arts and music, the food and sports. Last year, due to Covid restrictions, events were either cancelled or had to go online, but this year it was back! Activities were held all over the county, from sunrise to sunset and everyone had the opportunity to get involved.

Suffolk Day 2021 was a particularly special event for the townspeople of Clare. The opening procession followed the town crier through the historic Clare Castle Country Park, and gathered in Market Square, where the day was officially launched to an audience of local dignitaries and guests. The Suffolk Medal was awarded to this year's chosen recipients in the presence of Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston.

The theme for the day was Rejoice, Revisit, Remember - a poignant reminder of the wonderful attractions Suffolk has to offer after the lockdowns and Covid restictions.

Here at Suffolk Latch Company, we were honoured to be asked to help with the production of this commemoration video to mark the opening ceremony. Our professional videographer, Robbie Waters, took some time away from door knobs and latches to join the procession and capture the atmosphere of the event. Join us as we look back on the day and celebrate the heritage of our fabulous county.
