Polished Brass Door Knobs

Our polished brass door knobs collection includes classic solid brass designs for internal doors, including beehive, round and oval styles. These door knobs are well suited to period homes, renovation projects and interiors where traditional brass door furniture is required.

Many of these brass door knobs are supplied in a polished, unlacquered finish. This means the surface will naturally darken and develop a patina over time, or can be polished back if you prefer to maintain a brighter brass appearance.

All brass door knobs are sold as pairs and supplied with a mortice bar and fixings. Selected styles can be used with traditional rim locks or standard mortice latch mechanisms.

Traditional Polished Brass Door Knobs

Polished brass door knobs offer a classic starting point for traditional internal doors. The bright brass finish works well with painted timber, natural wood and period-style door furniture.

Popular options include brass beehive door knobs, round brass door knobs and oval brass door knobs.

Unlacquered Brass and Natural Patina

A polished brass finish describes the appearance when new. If the brass is unlacquered, it will not remain permanently bright unless it is regularly polished. Instead, the surface will react to air, moisture and handling, gradually developing a softer aged patina.

This makes polished unlacquered brass door knobs a good choice if you want a finish that changes with use. Door knobs are handled frequently, so they often develop character more quickly than less-used fittings.

Using Brass Door Knobs with Rim Locks and Latches

Many polished brass door knobs can be fitted with traditional rim locks or standard mortice latch mechanisms, depending on the product design and door setup.

If you are creating a traditional internal door set, our Solid Brass Rim Locks can be paired with suitable brass door knobs and escutcheons for a coordinated finish.

Matching Brass Door Hardware

To complete the door, consider matching brass accessories such as door plates, bathroom turn and release fittings, door stops and hinges.

If you are coordinating brass throughout the home, explore our wider Unlacquered Brass Hardware Collection, which includes cabinet hardware, exterior door furniture, window fittings and rim locks.

Choosing the Right Brass Finish

Polished brass is a good choice if you want a brighter brass appearance when new. If left unlacquered, the finish will age naturally; if polished regularly, it can be kept closer to its original shine.
