Satin Nickel Door Knobs

Satin nickel door knobs have a soft, brushed appearance that works well with painted doors, neutral colour schemes and both traditional and contemporary interiors. The low-sheen finish is less reflective than polished chrome or polished nickel, creating a quieter and more understated look.

Our collection includes door knobs on rose for mortice latches as well as selected rim door knobs for traditional surface-mounted rim locks. Designs range from classic round and oval knobs to reeded and more decorative styles.

Door knobs are supplied as pairs with a spindle and appropriate fixings unless stated otherwise. Selected designs are also available with compatible latches or as bathroom sets containing the additional locking components required for privacy.

Choosing Satin Nickel Door Knobs

Satin nickel is a practical choice if you want a subtle metallic finish without the mirror-like appearance of polished hardware. Its brushed character works particularly well with white, grey, blue and other neutral door colours, as well as natural timber.

These knobs are primarily intended for internal doors unless an individual product listing specifically confirms exterior suitability. For bathroom doors, the term “bathroom set” refers to the privacy-locking function rather than suitability for installation inside a shower or another continuously wet area.

Mortice and Rim Door Knobs

Before selecting a design, check whether your door uses a mortice latch or a surface-mounted rim lock.

  • Mortice door knobs work with a latch recessed into the edge of the door. Both knobs are normally fitted to rose plates attached to the door faces.
  • Rim door knobs are designed for a visible rim lock fitted to the face of the door. Their rose and spindle arrangement differs from a standard mortice knob set.

Although the two types can look similar, they are not always interchangeable. Check the product description and fitting arrangement before ordering.

Latch and Bathroom Sets

For an ordinary passage door, choose either the knobs alone with a suitable existing latch or a complete latch set. A bathroom door requires a compatible bathroom lock and turn-and-release fitting in addition to the knobs.

Set contents vary between products. Check whether the selected option includes the knobs, spindle, latch or lock, privacy turn and fixings rather than assuming every component is included.

Door Knob Size and Latch Backset

A door knob requires sufficient clearance between the knob and the door frame because your hand wraps around it when turning. A longer latch backset can move the knob farther from the frame and make it more comfortable to operate.

If replacing lever handles or an existing knob set, compare the new rose diameter with any old fixing holes or marks. You should also check the door thickness, spindle length and latch position.

Satin Nickel, Polished Nickel or Chrome?

Satin nickel has a soft brushed appearance, while polished nickel door knobs have a warmer reflective surface. Polished chrome door knobs generally appear brighter and slightly cooler in tone.
