Choosing Round Rose Door Handles

A round rose is the circular plate fitted behind the lever. It covers the spindle and fixing area without using the longer plate found on a backplate handle.

Where a door needs to lock, the key escutcheon, Euro-profile escutcheon or bathroom turn is normally separate from the handle. This allows the lever and locking furniture to be selected for the particular door function.

Latch, Bathroom and Lock Options

Selected round-rose ranges are available as handles only or with coordinated latch, bathroom, 3 lever lock and Euro-profile set options. Other products have different configurations, so do not assume every design is supplied with the same components.

Fixings, Springing and Compatibility

The fact that two handles use a round rose does not make them directly interchangeable. Rose diameter, lever projection, fixing positions, spindle arrangement, door thickness and latch or lock requirements can differ between designs.

Some Suffolk Latch Company ranges are offered in sprung and unsprung versions, while others use a different fixed arrangement. Always check the individual product information before selecting the latch or lock.

Round Rose, Square Rose or Backplate?

A Door Handle on Backplate uses a longer plate behind the lever and may incorporate a keyhole, bathroom turn or Euro-profile opening into the plate itself.

Replacing Existing Door Handles

Before replacing an existing handle, compare the new rose diameter, projection, fixing positions, spindle and door thickness with the current fitting. A compact round rose may not cover marks or fixing holes left by a larger backplate.
