Black Door Knobs

Black door knobs are a strong choice for internal doors, period homes, cottages and modern interiors where a darker finish is preferred. Our collection includes matt black, black cast iron, black beehive and darker bronze-style designs, giving you a choice of traditional and more understated styles.

Choose reeded black door knobs for a more architectural look, black beehive designs for period-style doors, or matt black mushroom door knobs for a simpler, cleaner appearance. Some darker finishes, such as oil-rubbed bronze, sit close to black visually but may show warmer undertones depending on the light.

Black door knobs can be paired with matching black door handles, black cupboard knobs, cabin hooks, door bolts and other co-ordinating hardware. If you are choosing black cast iron door knobs or ebonised wooden door knobs, it is worth checking the material and care guidance before ordering.

Most black interior door knobs are supplied in pairs with mortice bars and fixings. Selected styles are also available as latch sets or bathroom sets, depending on the product. For wider guidance, read our Door Knobs Explained guide or our practical guide on how to choose door knobs.

Choosing black door knobs

Before ordering, check the material as well as the finish. A black door knob may be matt black brass, black cast iron, ebonised wood or a darker bronze-style finish. Each material behaves differently in use.

Black cast iron door knobs work well in period interiors, cottages and utility spaces, but they are generally best suited to internal doors. Ebonised wooden door knobs suit Victorian-style interiors and traditional rim locks. Matt black brass or similar finishes can work well in both traditional and modern rooms.

Check whether your door uses a standard mortice latch, bathroom lock or rim lock. Some black door knobs are designed for mortice fittings, while others may be suitable for traditional surface-mounted rim locks.

For a softer alternative to black, you may also wish to compare matt bronze door knobs. Matt bronze gives a darker architectural finish with warmer undertones than many black finishes.

Matching black door knobs with other hardware

Black door knobs can be paired with black door handles, black cupboard knobs, cabin hooks, door bolts, hinges, keyhole escutcheons and bathroom turns.

Where exact finish matching is important, check the product finish and material carefully before ordering. Black finishes can vary between cast iron, brass, wood and bronze-style products, especially where hardware is made by different suppliers.
