Traditional Hand Forged Hinges

Traditional Hinges Collection

Our traditional hinges combine strength with authentic period design for ledge and brace doors, cabinets, and heritage joinery. Many are hand-forged using blacksmithing methods, giving a textured, individual finish. Available in beeswax or pewter, they suit both restoration projects and new timber doors in a traditional style. Learn more in our Traditional Hand-Forged Ironmongery Range Explainer.

T-Hinges

Our hand-forged T-hinges—available in penny or arrow-end designs—feature a long strap for support on ledge and brace doors. Offered in sizes from light to heavy-duty, they remain a favourite for traditional interiors. For oversized doors, see our Barn Door Hinges. Each pair includes matching slotted screws for an authentic period finish.

H & HL Hinges

H and HL hinges are made for framed or panelled doors, with smaller versions for shutters and cabinetry. The H hinge suits lighter doors, while the HL hinge adds a horizontal arm for strength. Each handed pair provides balanced support and symmetry. Forged from mild steel, they match our traditional door hardware.

Butterfly Hinges

Butterfly hinges are decorative surface fittings used on cupboards and shutters. Their symmetrical wings provide smooth movement and a touch of traditional charm. Available in beeswax or pewter finishes for a subtle period look.

Gate Hinges

Our gate hinge collection includes three materials. The Tudor range is cast iron for oxidisation resistance; Armor-Coat offers a durable outdoor finish; and our hand-forged penny and arrow-end hinges combine strength with traditional style. Each hinge delivers long-term reliability for heritage gates.

Barn Door Hinges

Barn door hinges are built for large doors requiring extra support. The long strap spreads weight evenly to prevent sagging, while the reinforced knuckle and fixing plate add strength. Supplied with matching screws, they suit barn conversions and large heritage doors.

Finishes & Matching Hardware

This collection includes hand-forged steel and cast iron hinges with matching screws. Choose black beeswax for internal doors or pewter for lighter timbers and humid areas. To complete the look, match with traditional latches, door bolts, and pull handles.
